Caption of the Week Winners

Wow.  What an outpouring of wit and humor in the Caption Contest.  With a hung jury (pun intended) we have a top three:

1) Wally H:  Unaware of the "official" rules Jim believes he has just completed 2 legs of a triathlon

2) chimp: "I don't really feel like a super hero anymore, and my junk is frozen."

3) will duke: Strip Cyclocross it sounded like such a good idea last night at the Casino.

We will have another photo for you this week to take a pot shot at so stay tuned.
chimp, wally and will duke let me know how we get you your WRBC stickers.

BLM Public Land Work Day September 26

The BLM has completed its first ribon of beautiful singeltrack this week and a few of us were lucky enough to get out and have a little pre-opening ride yesterday. Beginner to intermediate in challenge but the fun factor is off the hook for riders of all abilities. Flowy, fun and swoopy with very little gut busting punishment, this trail is designed to be one that becomes a favorite immediately.
The BLM is asking for some help in putting the final touches on the trail with a volunteer day this month on September 26th. Information is below. We hope to see everyone out there supporting riding in the southern Wood River Valley!
Location: Croy Creek Trailhead, 3.5 miles west of Hailey, Idaho When: September 26th (Saturday) at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. What to Wear: Long sleeve shirt and pants, hat, sturdy shoes or boots, sunscreen, Bring: Water and a lunch/snacks (WRBC recommends BEERS) Beverages and gloves will be provided. Please leave dogs at home. BLM Shoshone Field Office Brings National Public Lands Day Event to Hailey
SHOSHONE, Id. -- On September 26, 2009, more than 120,000 Americans are expected to volunteer to help restore the beauty and vitality of our public lands as part of the 16th annual National Public Lands Day. In Hailey, Idaho, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Shoshone Field Office will conduct trail work to assist in this national effort.
The BLM Shoshone Field Office has been working with local trail users for the past several years to plan and provide single-track trail opportunities west of Hailey. This summer the BLM hired a contractor to construct 12.5 miles of trail. Construction is complete but some finish work remains. Volunteer help is necessary to complete the trail system. Work will consist of defining the lower edge of the trail tread by strategically placing sagebrush that was removed during construction alongside the trail’s edge. This is fun, easy work that will allow people to see the new construction and put the finishing touches on this new trail system.
The trail system will not be open until next spring or potentially late this fall. The trailtread is currently very soft and susceptible to major damage until it can be hardened and compacted by a significant amount of rain or snow. Respecting the fragile condition of the trails will help ensure they are in good shape next spring.
Volunteers who participate in National Public Lands Day are rewarded with coupons for free entry into their favorite federal public land areas that have entrance fees. They may also receive a t-shirt, water-bottle or other give-a-ways. For more information about this National Public Lands Day event, please contact John Kurtz at 208-732-7296 or john_kurtz@blm.gov.
